tips for BBQ | The secrets for low and slow barbecue ribs, pulled pork, brisket and more

Tips for BBQ is all about YOU and Barbecue!

If you spell it BBQ, Barbeque, Bar-B-Q, or Barbecue you've come to the right place. Tips for BBQ is your 'ace in the hole' for learning the art of 'cue. Whether its barbecued baby back ribs, pulled pork, Texas brisket, Thanksgiving turkey or something from my hall of fame - I'm here to teach you EVERYTHING I know.

Barbecue is all about cooking the meat low and slow or smoke roasting. By cooking meats at a temperature below the norm and slowly bringing your meat up to the proper temperature magic will start to happen. The smoke either from your heat source (i.e., pellets) or other combustible wood sources will lend its wafty, sultry flavors to your meat and the indirect heat cooks the meat without robbing it of all the juices that would normally just end up in the bottom of some pan.

As great competition barbecuers have shown you can cook amazing barbecue on anything. Whether you have a gas grill, kettle grill, a pellet smoker, a bullet smoker or even two tubs clam-shelled together (competition barbecuers are a different breed;) its all about how you cook it!

I've started working on a BBQ Dictionary to help explain different cooking methods, terms or acronyms that will help you attain legendary backyard pitmaster status. With each entry I will be adding youtube videos from me and others to help. Afterall, if a picture is worth 1000 words - then a video must be worth its weight in gold... Well, the good ones are at least.

I've had a great website launch and I've had a lot of fun doing it. Its great to get all the positive feedback from everyone trying out the recipes - keep it coming! Recently I've gone through and started adding tags to everything to help with navigation and I've also added a buyers guide for shopping for decent backyard bbq grills/smokers/dutch ovens/etc. Enjoy!
